We keep seeing news telling us ninety percent of the country is under a stay-at-home order. It’s a pretty strange time for all of us to go through. John and I sincerely hope everyone reading this is healthy and doing okay.
Real estate is still happening, although with many adjustments for the safety and continued health of buyers, sellers, Realtors, and everyone else involved in real estate transactions.
In the meantime, many of us are at home with time on our hands! As long-time Realtors, John and I have for years followed the policy of having our home in good condition and ready to sell should the need arise. We do not have any plans to sell – we love our home! But we like to be ready for anything life might choose to throw our way.
So we are finding all the smaller home improvement projects that are low or no-cost, and that we can easily bang out ourselves. Here are some ideas:
- Wash windows (ours really needed it, the cleaning lady has an aversion to windows)
- Repaint interior or exterior trim to freshen up the home
- Paint the front door an exciting color
- Get busy in the garden – it’s Spring after all – it’s the perfect time to weed, plant and mulch
- Clean out and organize your garage
- Tidy closets and pitch out old, unused stuff
- Take everything out of the kitchen cabinets, give them a good scrub, then restock and reorganize
- Use a contrast color to paint a “feature wall” in the dining or living room, or master bedroom
- Go through old toys with your kids and fill some boxes for later donations to charity
